Various activities have been organized to mark the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day in many countries.

The Vietnamese Embassy in China on August 31st organized a ceremony to mark the 70 years of the August Revolution and National Day.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Nguyen Van Tho stressed that over the past 70 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), Vietnam has overcome various difficulties and challenges to firmly protect independence, freedom and unity of the country.

Vietnam has been an active and responsible member of the international community. It has consistently and persistently implemented its diplomatic policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateraliation and persification in international relations.

He also emphasised the stable, healthy and long-term development of its relations with China as one of the top priorities in the country’s foreign policy.

On this occasion, former Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Li Jiazhong told that he believed the two countries would develop together, bringing a better life to their people and contributing to development and prosperity of the region and the world.

Participants at the event also enjoyed an art performance by Vietnamese artists.

On August 30th, the Vietnamese Embassy in the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria organized a banquet to solemnly celebrate the 70th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2nd).

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria Vu The Hiep highlighted the historical significance of September 2nd, 1945 when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, opening a historic turning point for Vietnam’s revolution.

The Ambassador emphasized during the past 70 years, the people of Vietnam have coped with the devastating and prolonged wars of resistance, difficulties and serious challenges, but won and have achieved remarkable accomplishments in construction and development of the country.

Today, Vietnam has developed dynamically, with a population of over 90 million people and its GDP of over USD200 billion and has cooperative relationship with most countries in the world as well as has many practical contributions to the struggle for peace, national independence, democracy and social progress in the world.

He also confirmed the traditional friendly relationship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Algeria continue to be strengthened and constantly developed. The official visit of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung to Algeria is an important event, creating a new momentum to put the multifaceted cooperation relations to a higher level.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese Embassy introduced, promoted the image of the country and people of Vietnam through film screening, publication exhibition, providing information on two-way trade relations and cuisine promotion of Vietnam.

Earlier, a meeting to mark the historic events was held by the Vietnam Culture Centre in Paris on August 29th.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Vuong, Director of the centre, highlighted the role of culture in the national protection and construction, which he said is equal to the role of politics and economy.

Vietnamese Ambassador to France Nguyen Ngoc Son said Paris was the first place where President Ho Chi Minh embarked on the path to national salvation. That’s why Paris was selected to house one of the two first culture centres of Vietnam in the world, he noted.

On behalf of the Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the centre presented certificates of merit to inpiduals and collectives to honour their contributions to introducing Vietnamese culture in France./.
