Advancing Gender Equality Communication in Central Highlands

A publishing house just introduces a book on gender equality in the Central Highlands of Vietnam.

According to information from the Vietnam Women's Publishing House, the book series "Media stories changing gender prejudices and gender stereotypes" was introduced to students of Le Quy Don Secondary School in Ia Soom commune, Krong Pa district of Gia Lai province, along with a talk show advocating for gender equality and social inclusion.

The book introduction under Project 8 is titled "Implementing Gender Equality and Solving Urgent Problems for Women and Children." The book series "Media stories changing gender prejudices and gender stereotypes" includes four books "I want to go to school," "House with two roofs," "Sharing housework," and "It turns out we can do it too."

More than 600 students from Le Quy Don Secondary School participated in the event.

Speaking at the opening of the discussion, Principal Bui Duc Thien shared his hope that the book will be an opportunity to accelerate the advancement of gender equality that will result in healthier families, fundamentally contributing to resolving inequality in many areas in ethnic minority areas in Ia Soom commune in particular and Krong Pa district in general.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese Women's Publishing House handed over a bookcase to Le Quy Don Secondary School worth VND 15 million (USD 617).

Le Quy Don Secondary School is the first school in the district to establish the "Leaders of Change" Club - one of the activity models of Project 8.

The Vietnam Women's Publishing House hopes that in addition to books, sharing about gender and gender equality integrated in the discussion will help students be able to recognize outdated customs and gender stereotypes in the community where they live. From there, contributed to changing the way of thinking and working for mountainous ethnic people.
