On July 31, at Aid for social protection program Foundation Vietnam (AFV)’s Headquarters, Emi Lo’sing – Director of TFCF (Taiwan Fund for Children and Families) Vietnam and Hoang Phuong Thao – Executive Director of AFV signed a Memorandum of Understanding upon two parties’ joint Child Sponsorship programme in Binh Tan district, Ho Chi Minh city in the period of 2019 - 2022.

According to a survey implemented by ActionAid Vietnam and AFV in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Binh Tan district in 2018, 33% of people in Binh Tan encountered difficulties in getting access to quality education for their children due to a variety of issues: long distance between home and school, lack of classrooms and financial barriers that hindered them from paying tuition fee.

The Child Sponsorship programme is the first milestone of a long-term partnership between TFCF and AFV, in the mutual effort to address the aforementioned problems, promote children’s rights in school, support young students with a friendly and quality learning environment, and share the burdens with immigrants families living in Binh Tan district.
