Vietnamese Epic History is a historical drama series that recreates epic battles, significant historical figures and mysterious stories in Vietnamese history.

It is the first Vietnamese historical drama to be portrayed in animation, and features a distinctive artistic style, professional voice acting, and anthemic music.

It was developed by a group of writing enthusiasts, share a passion for promoting Vietnamese history by recreating battles, significant historical figures and stories.

As the second part of the series “Tu chien thanh Da Bang” (Mortal Combat at Da Bang Citadel) entitled Sat (Iron), the project is hoped to help audiences learn more about Vietnamese culture and history.

Paper is the first among the three episodes of Tu Chien Thanh Da Bang, the first part of Viet Su Kieu Hung film project.

The Paper episode, lasting 17 minutes, is the fruit of more than 80 days of relentless work of nearly 30 young people. Although working in different fields — some are still students — every member of the project shares the same passion for Vietnamese history.

The production team chose the topic for each episode by keeping in mind not the significant victories that have been noted down in Vietnamese history books, but by delving into those battles that have been rarely mentioned in the textbooks.

The screening of the film is described as a positive signal for Vietnam’s movie industry, helping pave the way for developing next film projects on history and culture, especially those by young people.

The film will be posted on December 20 on Facebook and Youtube channels of the Viet Su Kieu Hung and BHD Star. It is expected to bring the nation’s historical and cultural values closer to other people.

Youngsters strives to promote nation’s history

With unique and creative ways, a number of youngsters have brought the nation’s historical and cultural values closer to other people.

Like Viet Su Kieu Hung, members of the Vietnam Centre Group are busy preparing for a show to introduce Vietnamese traditional royal costumes and retrace almanac presenting ceremonies.

Every pattern and set of costumes were studied carefully under the supervision of historical experts before introducing them to public.

Nguyen Ngoc Phuong Dong, the founding member of Vietnam Centre Group, said: "Everyone in the group shares a passion for the love of the country’s culture. All the expenses are donated by the members voluntarily."

"We will continue to bring the show to other localities as well as foreign ones like Sydney, Melbourne so international friends can know more about Vietnamese culture," Dong added.

Nguyen Van Thien, a Hanoi resident, said it is imperial to support the youngsters’ works as much as possible because their works have brought the country’s cultural value closer to public, helping to preserve the nation’s traditional identity.

Nguyen Dinh Hung, a researcher at the Institute of Han-Nom Studies, said he fully supports the works of youngsters as they were very creative and viewers were impressed by their work.

"Through animated movies, audiences can learn more about Vietnamese culture very easily," Hung said.

The Vietnam Centre and the Vietnamese Epic History are only two among many groups of youngsters who have great passion with the nation’s history. The young folks have helped promote and bring the love for history, and culture closer to the public with many projects.

Tran Quang Duc, a historical researcher commented that many things needed experience. Therefore youngsters should seek advice from others for more accurate information.
