Art programmes remember glorious history of nation on National Day
An art programme entitled ‘Forever Shining the National Flag’ was held in Ho Chi Minh City on the evening of September 2nd to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (1945-2017).
The event was attended by Politburo member and Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan, Chairman of the city People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong, and other officials.

Performances at the programme recalled historic milestones in the country’s glorious history from the August Revolution in 1945, the national struggles against foreign invaders to the country’s development and international integration today.
Participating artists also praised President Uncle Ho and the clear-sightedness of the Communist Party of Vietnam through beautiful melodies. Yesterday evening, the eighth national concert named “Dieu Con Mai” (Things Everlasting) was organised at the Hanoi Opera House, bringing to stage the most outstanding and favourite performances of the concert’s previous seven editions.
Broadcasted live on Vietnam Television Channel 1, the concert gathered famous Vietnamese vocalists and veteran instrumentalists from the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Le Phi Phi.
The event opened with the Vietnamese anthem in choir version, which was accompanied by the symphony orchestra, recalling the date September 2nd, 1945 at the historic Ba Dinh square, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The concert also featured touching songs praising Uncle Ho, the Fatherland, and patriotism, which have been in the heart of many Vietnamese generations.
The concert has been held annually on September 2nd, Vietnam’s National Day, since 2009 to promote the spirit of national pride and the love of country and people.
In the same atmosphere to celebrate the National Day, an art programme was held in the northern province of Dien Bien yesterday, enchanting the audience with songs and dances which extolled the country’s history and achievements in the national construction and defence./.
