At the meeting, Laurent Francois Yves - Marie Michael Jacques Sermet said: The number of people speaking French in Vietnam and Asia is decreasing. With that in mind, AUF wishes to work with partners to expand the French-speaking community in Asia and Africa, thereby contributing to strengthening and consolidating the organization's relations with Asian and African countries. Currently, AUF is considering establishing a Francophone university community in Asia.
VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga said, as a member of the Francophonie, Vietnam is interested in increasing the number of French-speaking people. Nguyen Phuong Nga appreciated AUF's contribution to Vietnam in the field of French language teaching and research in particular and human resource, education and training in general.
The two sides agreed to cooperate in activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and France, organize scientific seminars in the fields of diplomacy, international law, cultural exchanges, and enhance understanding between Vietnam and the French-speaking community.
The Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) is a network of French-language universities and research institutions. AUF currently has 944 members in 116 countries, headquartered at the University of Montréal, Canada. In Vietnam, AUF supports member institutions to improve the quality of training, research, and university administration; academic integration and employment opportunities, technology transfer in education, and connection with the Francophone community. |
