Belarus Wishes to Foster Economic Cooperation with Vietnam

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko expressed his desire to expand economic cooperation with Vietnam while hosting a reception for Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Van Ngu on March 29 to discuss the bilateral relations and development prospects of new cooperation fields.

Belarus is keen to bolster development cooperation with Vietnam, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stated when hosting a reception for Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Van Ngu on March 29 to discuss the bilateral relations and development prospects of new cooperation fields.

Belarus actively promotes development and cooperation with Vietnam, not only because Belarusians love Vietnamese people, but also because the two countries have common economic interests, he stated.

He affirmed that Belarus is ready to provide its technology to Vietnam, support the formation of new businesses and establish joint ventures to produce technical products.

In addition, he said Belarus is ready to expand the supply of food and fertilizers to Vietnam which are of paramount importance in the current context.

In an interview granted to local media outlets after the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Van Ngu emphasized that both Belarus and Vietnam have a lot of potential for stronger cooperation and they should seize opportunities to double bilateral trade turnover, according to the VOV.

The two sides will make more efforts to deepen and expand their cooperative relationship, he said.

He informed the Vietnamese ambassador that Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko will visit Vietnam in the coming time to discuss bilateral cooperation in recent years and in the future, affirming that Vietnam will always be a friend of Belarus.

Speaking to local media, the Vietnamese diplomat underlined that Vietnam and Belarus hold huge cooperation potential and may double the bilateral trade turnover, adding that the countries will exert efforts to deepen the bilateral cooperation.

This year marks the 30th founding anniversary of the Vietnam-Belarus diplomatic ties (January 24, 1992 - 2022).

Two-way trade exceeded 200 million USD in 2021. Vietnam shipped rubber products, nuts, fish fillets, integrated circuits and canned food to Belarus while importing fertilisers, animal feed, and pharmaceutical products and cosmetics from the European country, reported the Vietnamplus.

Both sides are completing the supply of agricultural equipment and tools, and planning to build production lines for milk and dairy products.
