This event aims to raise donation for the Vietnamese Blood Bank for those who suffer from blood disorders, encourage people to donate blood regularly in order to ensure the sufficiency of blood stock, also underlines the role of every single inpidual in the blood transfusion activity, especially when emergencies happen.

Nelson Mandela International Day is celebrated every year in recognition of the 67 years that Nelson Mandela spent in serving humanity and fighting for freedom and justice. The celebration seeks to mobilize the solidarity of the international community in entrenching the values of freedom and justice that Nelson Mandela fought for. It is about creating a global movement for good, which recognizes that positive change begins with small and inpidual actions and serves as a catalyst for people around the world to realize that each and every one of us has the ability to change the world. For this reason, the United Nations declared 18th July as the Nelson Mandela International Day in 2009.

2017 is the 99th anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s Birth Day and marks the fourth year in which the Nelson Mandela Day will be organised and celebrated in the absence of the great iconic leader who demonstrated, through perseverance and principle that each and every one of us has the ability to change the world through self-sacrifice and action.

“This is also the reason for us to make efforts to carry out humanitarian activities successfully so that we can continue to fulfil one of his commitments to empower disadvantaged fellow human beings and to make the world a better place.”

“Please convey this goodwill message to your colleagues, friends and their families and let ‘Take action, inspire change and make every day a Mandela Day’!” South African Ambassador Kgomotso Ruth Magau wrote in the Embassy’s Facebook page.
