Promoting consumption on e-commerce platforms

Recently, ministries, branches, localities and e-commerce channels supported thousands of businesses in accessing goods distribution methods via e-commerce.

At the discussion on increasing e-commerce channels and consuming products of ethnic groups and mountainous areas on October 16, Nguyen An Son, E-Commerce and Digital Economy Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), shared that the Ministry implemented a series of activities to support the use of e-commerce applications in the community.

The Ministry also helped narrow the gap between big cities and localities in terms of e-commerce development.

The E-Commerce and Digital Economy Agency regularly organized training classes on e-commerce for people in ethnic groups. This helped localities increase information, raise awareness, and encourage people to use e-commerce platforms.

In terms of infrastructure development and support services for e-commerce, the Department also developed electronic payment as well as logistics-related solutions. These solutions played a role in establishing support infrastructure and creating an environment that helps businesses apply e-commerce and digital technology successfully.

Pham Thanh Nam, Department of Industry and Trade of Tra Vinh province, said that the Department promoted the development of Tra Vinh e-commerce platforms at travinhtrade.com.vn.

Currently, Tra Vinh's e-commerce platforms had more than 150 businesses and more than 750 products of all kinds, including hundreds of OCOP products as well as typical agricultural products and 300 other products.

Hoang Thi Huyen, head of the Online Business Department under the Vietnam Post Corporation, said that recently, Vietnam Post and Postmart carried out campaigns to support the consumption of agricultural products.

With the support of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the MoIT, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, agricultural products such as Bac Giang lychees, Son La plums, and Yen Chau mangoes have been sold well on the Postmart platform with volume of up to thousands of tonnes.

Improving mountainous agricultural product consumption on e-commerce platforms

E-commerce channels have increased and there are many support activities to promote agricultural product consumption in mountainous areas.

However, there are still many products that have not accessed this modern business platform. The connection and consumption of products from ethnic groups and mountainous areas through e-commerce platforms is only limited to promotion, and the sale value is still low. It is noteworthy that counterfeit goods still exist on these platforms, affecting the choice of buyers.

The E-Commerce and Digital Economy Agency will focus on solving difficulties related to protecting consumer rights and the issue of counterfeit goods.

The Agency will also organize training classes for human resources on e-commerce applications as well as digital technology for provinces, cities, and localities. This helps raise awareness, as well as improve e-commerce application skills in localities.

For mountainous, and remote areas, developing logistics infrastructure is necessary and important.

The Agency will also coordinate with units such as Postmart and other service providers in the market to form a network and provide specialized support for businesses as well as farmers in ethnic groups, and mountainous areas to effectively promote the consumption of agricultural products.
