The Vietnamese Embassy in Brazil in coordination with the Federation Trade in Goods, Services and Tourism of the Federal District (Fecomércio-DF) and the Young Exporters Institute (IJEx) of the host country launched the event "Coffee with Ambassador - Vietnamese version" to honour Vietnamese enterprises that have trade partnership with Brazilian firms, Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) reported.

The event drew 150 participants, including businesses involving in agriculture, services, logistics, tourism, and manufacturing, was also expected to open up plenty of opportunities to connect Vietnamese and Brazilian.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Brazil Pham Thi Kim Hoa briefed participants on the bilateral relationship and the political and geographical importance of Vietnam in Asia.

Hoa highlighted the event as a meaningful activity to connect businesses, offer more cooperation opportunities, and promote the images of Vietnam to Brazilian friends.

The Vietnamese diplomat affirmed the nation’s readiness to welcome new cooperation initiatives from Brazilian businesses, making positive contributions to both nations’ economic and trade ties.

During the course of the event, business representative shared their experience and difficulties.

On this occasion, the embassy also displayed Vietnamese handicraft and agricultural products, pictures, and videos featuring the nation’s tourism.

Vietnam is home to 710,000 hectares of coffee, of which 650,000 are harvestable, mainly in the Central Highlands region.

The country exported 180,000 tonnes of coffee worth USD 393 million in February, representing a rise of 28.7% in volume and 22% in value on-year, according to figures given by the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

The country shipped 323,000 tonnes of coffee worth USD 703 million during the two-month period, marking a fall of 13.1% in volume and 14.6% in value on-year, VOV cited the General Department of Vietnam Customs data.

Most notably, exports of Robusta and processed coffee in January fell compared to January 2022, while Arabica coffee exports enjoyed growth.

Statistics compiled by the General Department of Vietnam Customs indicate that Robusta coffee exports in January reached 128,560 tonnes worth USD 239.5 million, down 27.4% in volume and 28.3% in value year on year.

Exports of Robusta coffee to a number of markets such as Italy, Ecuador, India, and Indonesia in January experienced an upward trend compared to the previous month and against the same period from last year.

Meanwhile, exports of Arabica coffee in January reached 7,210 tonnes, valued at over USD 27 million, up 16.1% in volume and 4.3% in value year on year.

In particular, exports of Arabica coffee to markets such as Belgium, Germany, Italy, Ireland, and Spain enjoyed strong growth, while exports to the Netherlands, the United States, Canada, Japan, and Indonesia endured a downward trajectory.
