Optimize Resources to Foster Local Development
During the meeting, Le Van Su, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau, emphasized: "Ca Mau consistently leverages and optimizes the support resources provided by foreign non-governmental organizations to contribute to local development, bringing tangible benefits to the community. Moreover, the province eagerly anticipates the continued attention and support of the Committee on Foreign Non-Governmental Organization Affairs to overcome challenges and obstacles during implementation, particularly through the establishment of a rapid information-sharing mechanism to swiftly acquire information and promptly execute programs and projects.
In the past, the aid from foreign non-governmental organizations to the province has focused on supporting the construction of schools, housing, afforestation, congenital heart surgeries for economically disadvantaged children, aid for individuals affected by drought and salinity, clean water systems for schools, and the construction of rural traffic bridges. Generally, the aid has been effectively practical, contributing to the social security goals and improving the lives of residents in the project areas."
On behalf of the working group, Do Thi Kim Dung recognized and highly commended the achievements Ca Mau has made in mobilizing aid and managing the activities of foreign non-governmental organizations in the province. "In the future, Ca Mau province will continue to focus on foreign non-governmental activities, enhancing and fully utilizing aid mobilization resources for areas prioritized for investment in the upcoming period. Additionally, the province will maintain close coordination with central agencies to facilitate inter-sectoral collaboration in information sharing, addressing issues related to foreign non-governmental activities, and exploiting and optimizing aid resources," Dung proposed.
According to Dung, large-scale foreign non-governmental organizations with programs and projects in Ca Mau province present an opportunity for the locality to continue attracting investment and aid in areas that are of priority and urgent concern for the province.

Enhance Climate Change Adaptation Capacity
The working group recently conducted a field survey and engaged with the Project Management Board overseeing the community-based climate change adaptation project in coastal areas of Khanh Tien commune, U Minh district, Ca Mau province, funded by Bread for the World (Germany).
During the session, Lam Van Von, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Khanh Tien commune, stated: "This project, spanning from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2025, has a total budget of 230,000 EUR, including a 200,000 EUR grant and a 30,000 EUR counterpart fund. The project's objective is to bolster the local climate change adaptation capacity across 12 hamlets within the commune while fostering diverse and sustainable livelihoods for the residents in the project area."
"To date, a training session on climate change and adaptation methods has been organized for project participants, focusing particularly on grassroots officers. This initiative has equipped grassroots officers with valuable knowledge to disseminate among community members, enabling them to better prevent natural disasters and adapt to climate change. Moreover, the project has enhanced the capacity of project management officers and established various livelihood models that provide significant benefits to the community, including shrimp, crab, chicken, and duck farming in Khanh Tien commune," Lam Van Von added.
Concluding the session, Do Thi Kim Dung encouraged Khanh Tien commune to maintain close collaboration with the sponsor to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the local context and the nature of the project work. She emphasized the importance of ensuring all project participants benefit from the initiatives. Additionally, Dung expressed her hope that the Project Management Board would actively disseminate the training knowledge throughout the community.
