At the meeting, Tran Phu Loc Thanh, vice director of the Department of Planning and Investment, talked about the city's potential, strengths and investment cooperation opportunities.
He also recognized the potential and advantages of Can Tho City in accordance with the needs of Japanese partners and businesses. Therefore, the opportunity for cooperation between the two sides is huge.
According to Thanh, currently, Can Tho City has about 86 foreign direct investment projects, of which there are 6 projects with direct investment capital from Japan with a total of about US$1.4 billion, ranking first in terms of investment capital in the city.
Through the meeting, leaders of the City's Department of Planning and Investment hoped that the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association would continue to play the role of a bridge for Japanese investors to participate in important projects of the city in the coming time.
"Can Tho City is committed to accompanying and coordinating with Japanese investors so that the two sides can achieve harmony of interests," Thanh said.

At the event, Can Tho’s representatives introduced important projects that are calling for investment in the city, including a center for linking production, processing, and consumption of agricultural products in the Mekong Delta, and a tier-2 regional logistics center.
Yasunaga Kojiro, attorney general of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association, appreciated the potential and advantages of Can Tho City for the development of the Mekong Delta.
He also forecasted that the number of people working in agriculture in Japan will decrease sharply in the next five years, so Japanese businesses have paid special attention to investing in this field in the Mekong Delta.
The projects introduced by the city are suitable for this demand, so they will attract more Japanese investors.
Yasunaga Kojiro said that the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association will strengthen connections and introduce Japanese businesses to expand investment cooperation with Can Tho City.
