Canadian Ambassador accompanies Hanoi Run for Children 2019

The Hanoi Run for Children (HRC) was established in 2000 formerly known as the Terry Fox Run Hanoi (2000-2008). This is a community charitable event to raised funds for underprivileged children diagnosed with cancer and heart disease.

Since 2009, the event has been named the Hanoi Run for Children, attracting thousands of participants. Last year, the HRC attracted more than 7,000 participants and raised more than VND1.1 billion ($47,800) in funding.

Ahead of the 2019 running tournament, on the afternoon of November 5, Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam Deborah Paul visited the National Hospital of Pediatrics.

Ambassador Deborah Paul said she felt very honored to be accompanied for this special event for the second time, stressing that this is a meaning activity.

Ambassador Deborah Paul said “Last year’s run was very successful, and I hope that the upcoming run, we will achieve the same success!”

Deputy Director of the National Pediatric Hospital, Trinh Ngoc Hai said, for many years, the National Hospital of Pediatrics has received the support of many domestic and foreign organizations, especially the Canadian Embassy in Vietnam. Up to now, the Hanoi Run for Children has been organized for nearly 20 years, and thanks to that, it has aided a lot of difficult children overcome serious illnesses treatment.

Mr. Hai expressed his sincere thanks to the Canadian Embassy, organizations and inpiduals who have accompanied the HRC for nearly two decades, and hoped HRC 2019 will attract more support from the community.
