Speaking at the ceremony, Bader Almatrooshi, ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Vietnam, said that the UAE is a pioneering model in the field of sustainable economic development in the international arena. The UAE achieved an unprecedented milestone in foreign trade in the first half of 2023, reaching more than 1.2 trillion UAE dirhams (US$326.7 billion) and marking a 14.4% increase over the previous year.

Since its establishment, the UAE has become a member of more than 150 international organizations in many fields of international cooperation.

The UAE is committed to working with its international partners through the G20 Action Plan to promote economic growth and equitable development worldwide for the fourth time after successfully joining the G20 in France in 2011.

Ambassador Bader Almatrooshi said that in 2023, the two countries will celebrate the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations.

He expressed his deep gratitude to the Government of Vietnam for its efforts to make bilateral relations develop positively in recent years.

One of the greatest achievements in the relationship is the solid foundation consolidated over the years thanks to the support of leaders and the continuous efforts of both Governments.

"Both countries share a common commitment to economic growth, prosperity, and culture, considering international cooperation an essential pillar of global peace and stability, innovation and sustainability.

The two countries cooperated in the Beyond 2020 Initiative related to the Zayed Sustainability Prize, which provides drinking water to 10,000 people living in rural areas in Vietnam," Ambassador Bader Almatrooshi said.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Ha Kim Ngoc said that for many Vietnamese people, the UAE is a symbol of the harmonious intersection between dynamic economic development in the desert, and a long-standing traditional cultural identity.

The Government and people of Vietnam always follow and congratulate the great socio-economic achievements that the UAE achieved over the past 52 years.

Economic and trade cooperation between the two countries achieved much encouraging progress, becoming a bright spot in bilateral relations. Despite the negative impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic and the challenging global economic context, trade turnover between Vietnam and the UAE in recent years always remained at an impressive figure of US$ 4-5 billion/year.

The two sides are negotiating the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which is expected to open breakthroughs in economic and trade relations between the two countries. In addition, cultural cooperation, tourism, and promoting people-to-people exchanges are also important areas in which the two sides still have much room to develop.

The Deputy Minister believed that in the coming period, there will be many opportunities for bilateral cooperation in potential fields such as trade, investment, culture tourism, renewable energy, and innovation.

Vietnam will always pay attention and create favorable conditions for the continuous development of the friendly relationship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and the UAE, for the common interests of the two peoples, and for peace and development of the region and the world.
