CJ Vietnam Chang Bok Sang emphasized that Vietnam is a country with great potential for rice production and export as it has retains its position in top 3 world's leading rice exporter.

However, the potential of Vietnamese rice has not been fully exploited and its value has yet to be maximized. In order to unlock the potential of Vietnamese rice as well as avoid risks in exporting caused by heavy dependence on importing countries, it is essential to accelerate the added value of rice by processing it into products such as cereals, confectionery.

In recent years, CJ Group has researched the variety of Japanese and Korean short grain rice, but there has been no research on the long-grain rice variety in Vietnam. Therefore, Chairman of CJ Group proposed the idea of cooperation with the Food Research Institute - Ministry of Industry and Trade to conduct researches to apply technology into processing rice products heading to establish a rice research center in Vietnam.

The move aims to bring Vietnamese rice far from its border to other countries and moving up to higher positions in the international market basing on taking advantage of research results and applying common technologies of Vietnam, South Korea, and promotional activities of CJ Group.

The potential of Vietnamese rice is enormous and CJ's idea brings meaningful cooperation that the Ministry of Industry and Trade is interested in because it can help to increase the added value of the Vietnamese rice, contributing to improving the income and life of farmers

Responding to the above proposal of CJ Group, Deputy Minister Cao Quoc Hung highly appreciated the initiative in the proposal between the Food Technology Institute and the CJ Group on the plan on research to apply food production technology into processing rice products as well as the idea of setting up a research center to increase the added value of Vietnamese rice products.

The Deputy Minister said that Vietnamese rice has been grown and processed according to high quality and safety standards. That is why Vietnam has been exporting to many difficult markets in the world steadily.

Annually, Vietnam regularly ranks in the top 2 or the top 3 largest rice exporting countries in the world with total export volume up to 6-7 million tons. Therefore, the potential of Vietnamese rice is enormous and CJ's idea brings meaningful cooperation that the Ministry of Industry and Trade is interested in because it can help to increase the added value of Vietnamese rice, contributing to improving the income and life of farmers.

Additionally, the Deputy Minister also believes that Vietnamese rice products are going to be available worldwide soon. "Through the cooperation between the Food Technology Institute and the CJ Group, the economic cooperation between Vietnam and Korea will be closer and more effective in the future and continuing to make an important contribution to the development of the extensive strategic cooperation and partnership between the two countries, "Deputy Minister Cao Quoc Hung expected.
