On June 12th, the U.S. Cable News Network (CNN) repeatedly broadcast promotional videos for Hanoi tourism while covering current affairs at the ongoing U.S.- DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) summit in Singapore.

The 30 second-promotional videos introduced famous beauty spots in the capital city of Hanoi and traditional art forms like water puppetry, which are popular among many international visitors.

According to CNN’s introduction, the reportage program on Hanoi tourism entitled “Destination Hanoi” will be broadcast at 5 pm on June 12th.

Hanoi has implemented a tourism promotion campaign on CNN recently. According to a report by the Hanoi Department of Tourism, 62 per cent of the interviewed audience of CNN said they are awareof the promotional campaign for Hanoi tourism.

Tran Duc Hai, director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism said the department has implemented a cooperative program with CNN to show 56 videos. At present, CNN broadcast three 30-second promotional videos for Hanoi tourism on CNN International across four regions including Asia-Pacific, South Asia, North America, Europe and the Middle East.

Sunita Rajan, Senior Vice President of Advertising Sales for CNN International in the Asia Pacific region said that Hanoi has deployed a major media campaign on CNN International for the first time and 2017-2018 will be the discovery period.

CNN will showcase Hanoi’s charms to the world by showing the different perspectives of Hanoians with interesting stories to tell, which will help people learn more about the capital city./.
