A luxury train connecting Hanoi with the northern port city of Haiphong will begin operations in early May, adding a fresh attraction to Hai Phong’s tourism offerings.

Each train on the route consists of 20 carriages, including two VIP carriages with 16 single sofa seats and five long sofa sets accommodating 20 seats across three distinct spaces. The VIP carriages also accommodate natural wooden floors, elegant interiors, free Wi-Fi, a bar, and live music performances.

The other 18 carriages have 56 swivel seats, vinyl floors, faux-marble wall panelling, and ceilings enhanced with decorative LED lights.

According to Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of the Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the service will launch on May 13 to mark the 70th anniversary of the city’s liberation.

The journey from Hanoi to Hai Phong takes around two hours, but ticket prices for the new train have yet to be announced.

Mai noted that Hai Phong will host the Haiphong Culinary Festival from May 9 to 14 at Haiphong Railway Station. Around 40 food stalls will display a variety of local delicacies and signature dishes.
