That was the statement made by Hoang Trung Dung, editor-in-chief of Communist Review, in his opening remarks at the National Scientific Conference on "Vietnam's Foreign Affairs and Diplomacy in the New Era – The Era of Nation's Rise." The conference, held on March 7 at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, was co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Communist Review.

According to Hoang Trung Dung, Vietnam’s development aspirations must be realized amid a rapidly evolving and complex global landscape where opportunities and challenges are intertwined. To achieve the country’s revolutionary goals, all sectors must adopt a strategic and proactive approach to define clear directions for the new phase, ensuring the successful implementation of Vietnam’s 2030 and 2045 strategic objectives.

The conference received nearly 50 research papers from scholars, government leaders, businesses, and representatives of Vietnam’s diplomatic missions abroad. Delegates engaged in deep and substantive discussions, emphasizing the spirit of self-reliance, national pride, and a bold, innovative, and pioneering diplomatic approach for Vietnam in the new era.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son appreciated the contributions from ministries and agencies, expressing gratitude for the strong participation of delegates, which reflected their dedication to Vietnam’s foreign affairs. He directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to incorporate constructive feedback to refine theoretical foundations and integrate practical experiences, strengthening the country’s diplomatic strategies in the new phase of national development.

In an unpredictable international environment where opportunities and challenges coexist, Vietnam’s diplomatic sector must consolidate peace, leverage international opportunities, and drive the nation’s breakthrough development. To achieve this, it is essential to establish a strong theoretical foundation defining the "new era" of diplomacy and reaffirm its critical and ongoing role in national progress.

"The goals and expectations for foreign affairs in this new phase are extremely high. Therefore, based on a refined theoretical framework for diplomacy in the new era and Vietnam’s distinct diplomatic school of thought, the diplomatic sector must elevate itself to new heights—moving towards a comprehensive, modern, and professional diplomacy that meets national objectives," Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized.

Closing the conference, Nguyen Xuan Thang, politburo member, director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, and chairman of the Central Theory Council, commended the proactive initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Communist Review in organizing the event. He noted that it aligns with ongoing efforts across the political system to institutionalize and concretize the concept of the "new era." Nguyen Xuan Thang praised the high-quality discussions, which combined theoretical depth with practical insights.

He emphasized that, rooted in Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh’s diplomatic philosophy, Vietnam’s rich diplomatic traditions, and global intellectual advancements, the country’s diplomacy must be comprehensive and modern. It should serve as a pioneering force alongside defense and security, bridging domestic and international resources to expand development space, create new opportunities, and support Vietnam’s strategic breakthroughs. Furthermore, it must enhance Vietnam’s global image and influence, contributing meaningfully to international affairs.
