China Highlights Vietnam as Key Priority in Regional Diplomacy

Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Thanh Binh on February 18 paid a courtesy visit to Liu Jianchao, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, as he began his tenure in the country.

The meeting saw both sides lauding the progress in relations between the two Parties and the two countries. They agreed that under the strategic guidance of the Parties and countries’ top leaders along with joint efforts at all levels, the ties have been continuously deepened following the six major orientations. Practical cooperation in various fields has yielded tangible and significant results.

The two sides agreed to maintain the momentum of regular high-level exchanges and contacts while leveraging the strategic guiding role of Party-to-Party relations to ensure the healthy, stable, and sustainable development of bilateral ties.

Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh reaffirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam always prioritize strengthening, enhancing friendship and cooperation with the Party, State, and people of China. He emphasized that developing relations with China remains a top priority and a strategic choice in Vietnam’s foreign policy.

The ambassador underscored that Party-to-Party relations, guided by the top leaders of both Parties and countries, have played a leading role and made important contributions to the overall bilateral relationship, fully reflecting the unique nature of Vietnam-China ties.

He affirmed Vietnam's willingness to work with the International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee to build on past achievements, facilitate high-level exchanges, and maintain strategic dialogue to strengthen political trust. He also highlighted the importance of effectively implementing cooperation mechanisms between the two Parties, promoting deeper, more substantive, and comprehensive bilateral cooperation for the benefit of both peoples while contributing to regional and global peace, stability, and development.

He also emphasized that the Department is willing to work closely with the Vietnamese Embassy in China to effectively implement the common understandings reached by the top leaders of both Parties and countries. This includes preparing well for high-level exchanges, promoting effective Party-to-Party cooperation, and deepening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to build a Vietnam-China Community with a Shared Future. These efforts, he noted, will contribute to each country's socialism building and promote peace and stability in the region and the world.

On this occasion, the two sides informed each other on their respective countries' situations and discussed some regional and international issues of mutual interest.
