Countryside Market Recreates Traditional Vietnamese Tet Atmosphere in New York
A spring fair was held in Brooklyn by the Vietnamese Youth and Students Association of New York and the Vietnamese Association of New York to celebrate the 2024 Lunar New Year (Tet), VOV reported.
The fair, themed "Countryside Market", recreated the traditional Vietnamese Tet atmosphere with typical dishes from Vietnam’s three regions, folk games, and musical performances.

The event attracted 700 participants from many backgrounds and generations in the Vietnamese community, especially young people living, studying, and working in New York City and surrounding areas, along with many international friends who love Vietnam. Many young people from Boston, Chicago, and Connecticut did not hesitate to travel far to attend the program.
On behalf of the organizing committee, Chairman of the Vietnamese Youth and Students Association in New York Truong The Anh emphasized that this event is an opportunity for the Vietnamese community in New York to meet, reunite, and enjoy the atmosphere. The traditional Tet is sacred and together they look towards the homeland and country.
The Anh respectfully thanked the agencies and businesses who accompanied and supported the organization of this fair, especially the Vietnamese delegation to the UN. At the same time, he affirmed that the success of the event is the result of the joint efforts, consensus and great efforts of Vietnamese international students and young people of Vietnamese origin born in the US.

Speaking at the opening of the fair, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang appreciated the efforts in organizing the program of the Vietnamese Youth and Student Association in New York and young people of Vietnamese origin in New York, thereby showing the dynamism, creativity, and enthusiasm of the young generation of Vietnam in general and Vietnamese youth and students in the US in particular.
Last week, the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the UN and the Vietnamese Consulate General in New York co-hosted a gathering on the occasion of the Lunar New Year festival.
The diplomat affirmed that the 2024 Spring Fair along with the Homeland Spring event recently organized by the Vietnamese Delegation to the UN not only brings the traditional Tet atmosphere but also helps the Vietnamese community in the US and New York not only relieve homesickness but also contribute to promoting Lunar New Year and traditional Vietnamese cultural values to local people and international friends, especially after the UN recently announced recognizes Lunar New Year as an international holiday by the UN.
Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang expressed his wish and belief that the Vietnamese Youth and Students Association of New York will continue to grow stronger, promote its ability to gather and connect Vietnamese youth in New York and the surrounding area, and continue to have many initiatives and meaningful activities for the community as well as the homeland, contributing to constantly improving Vietnam's reputation and international position.

In Cuba, the Vietnamese Embassy hosted a Tet celebration which included musical performances by Vietnamese students from several universities in the island country.
The Vietnamese Embassy in India organized a community Tet program for overseas Vietnamese, where attendees enjoyed Vietnamese food and music and shared their love for Vietnam.
In the Czech Republic the Vietnamese Embassy, in coordination with the Vietnamese Association and Saparia Joint Stock Company, also organized a 2024 Homeland Spring program in Prague.
