"The visit of Cuban President of the National Assembly of People's Power Esteban Lazo Hernandez to Vietnam is an affirmation of Havana's will to deepen the historical relations between the two peoples" - that was the assessment of Martin Hacthoun - Editor-in-Chief and Director of Communications and Image of the Latin American news agency (Prensa Latina) Cuba in an interview with a VNA reporter in Cuba about the meaning and importance of the working visit to Vietnam from November 2-3 of President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernández.
According to jouralist Martin Hacthoun, promoting effective and practical bilateral cooperation is also one of the most important points in the meetings and exchanges between President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernández with the Vietnamese leaders. This is based on Vietnam’s willingness to support Cuba in the face of the emergency that the Caribbean island nation is experiencing due to the US embargo, the aftermath of Hurricane Oscar in eastern Cuba and the prolonged energy crisis. In addition, the visit also continues to strengthen the cooperative relations between the Vietnamese and Cuban National Assemblies.
For his part, Dr. Ruvislei González Saez, Vice Chairman of the Cuba - Vietnam Friendship Association, said that the visit would be an ideal time for President of the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba to congratulate Vietnamese State President Luong Cuong and discuss with Vietnamese leaders measures to further strengthen the good bilateral relations, including parliamentary cooperation, an area that has been strongly promoted in recent times.
Dr. Ruvislei González Saez, the senior researcher at the Cuban Center for International Policy Studies, affirmed that the good relations between the two brotherly countries have demonstrated long-standing solidarity; at the same time, emphasizing that the Cuba-Vietnam brotherhood and the special solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two peoples, nurtured by the historical leaders President Ho Chi Minh and Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, will last forever.
Regarding the prospects for bilateral cooperation in the coming time, journalist Martin Hacthoun and Dr. Ruvislei González Saez both said that practical bilateral cooperation will contribute to the development and happiness of the two peoples. Vietnam's successful experiences in more than 30 years of "Renewal" are valuable lessons for Cuba.
Regular dialogue between the two Parties, States, Governments, Armies and Peoples contributes to deepening the comprehensive relations in the coming time. The two countries need to continue to exchange experiences and specific practical lessons of each side.
During the visit, the leaders of the two countries continued to discuss various areas of economic, trade and financial relations to elevate these relations to a new level and on par with the political level.
The visit is also an appropriate time for the two sides to discuss activities towards the 65th anniversary of bilateral ties in 2025 to further consolidate and develop the special and traditional friendship between the two brotherly nations.
