Fernando González, president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) speaks at the event.

At the event's opening session, Fernando González, president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), expressed gratitude to governments, solidarity organizations, and international friends for their support in the legitimate demand to end the blockade against Cuba.

He called for an end to the US embargo and urged the removal of Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism. González denounced the negative impact of the US blockade on Cuba and announced that Cuba would soon present a draft resolution to the United Nations calling for an end to this hostile policy.

He affirmed that this regional event further strengthened the 177-year-old historic friendship between China and Cuba and emphasized Cuba's commitment to peace and the international solidarity movement as a testament to its respect for the Caribbean people.

CPAFFC Vice President Yuan Mindao affirmed that Cuba, though a small island nation, is a 'heroic, hardworking, resilient, and ever-struggling' country, emphasizing that 'Cuba's historical path illuminates all of humanity.' He expressed his support and solidarity with the Cuban people against attacks on their sovereignty, external interference, and the US embargo. On this occasion, Vice President Yuan proposed that the Communist Parties of both countries implement the agreements between the two sides and the two countries to unleash the potential for cooperation in the context of a turbulent global landscape.

Vice President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations Dong Huy Cuong emphasized that "Cuba is a symbol of international solidarity and an inspiration for the national liberation struggles of colonial countries. Despite being subjected to a blockade and embargo, Cuba has achieved significant accomplishments in defending and building its country."

Cuong affirmed that the special Vietnam-Cuba relationship is a model for international relations. Sharing the difficulties that Cuba has faced for over 65 years due to the US embargo, Cuong asserted that "solidarity and support for Cuba are the conscience and responsibility of Vietnamese communists and people. It is both the legacy of President Ho Chi Minh and a slogan in the hearts of generations of Vietnamese leaders and people. Vietnam has always reserved for Cuba sincere and enduring fraternal solidarity, friendship, and cooperation, considering the solidarity and support for Cuba as a duty arising from our conscience and pure international sentiment."
