Cultural exchange to mark National Day of Vietnam and Malaysia
(VNF) - The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) in collaboration with the Embassy of Malaysia in Vietnam on August 29 held the Vietnam – Malaysia cultural exchange welcoming the 60th Anniversary of Independence of Malaysia and the 72nd Anniversary of Independence of Vietnam.

The event attracts the participation of VUFO Vice President in charge cum General Secretary Don Tuan Phong; Mr. Nguyen Van My, Member of the Presidium, Director of Asia – Africa Department, VUFO; H.E Mr. Mohd Zamruni Bin Khalid, Ambassador of Malaysia in Vietnam and lots of diplomats from ASEAN countries.
Addressing remarks, Mr. Nguyen Van My congratulated great achievements of Vietnam and Malaysia, which the two countries have gained in the cause of national construction and development.
In recent years, Malaysia is always among top Asia in growth rate. From a mainly natural resource-based economy, Malaysia has persified its economy and has become a leading exporter of electrical appliances, electronic components, oil, palm and natural gas. Malaysia’s status and prestige are constantly improving in the international arena. For Vietnam, since the implementation of “Doi moi 1986, the country has achieved great results in all fields. People’s lives are constantly improving.

Relations between the two countries are constantly being strengthened and developed. Malaysia is currently the seventh largest trading partner and investor in Vietnam with two-way trade reaching USD 8.4 billion in 2016 and total investment up to May 2017 reaching USD 12 billion. Cooperation in the fields of culture, sports, tourism and labor between the two countries has also been expanded. Senior visits by leaders of the two countries are regularly maintained, creating a prerequisite for the establishment of a strategic partnership between Vietnam and Malaysia by 2015.
On the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of Malaysia and the 72nd Anniversary of Vietnam, a group of Malaysian artists visited Vietnam and performed in the exchange program./.
