During his visit to Laos, Nguyen Xuan Anh, Party Central Committee member, Secretary of the Da Nang city Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council, paid a working visit to Laos’ Attapeu province on October 24^th.

Meeting with the Lao provincial leaders, Secretary Anh gave congratulations on the success of the 10^th Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, the 10^th Congress of the Attapeu provincial Party Committee, as well as the 8^th election of deputies to the Lao National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels.

He stressed that the Vietnamese Party, State and people in general, and Da Nang city in particular, always attach great importance to promoting the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, including the relations between Attapeu province and Da Nang city.

Nam Viyaket, Lao Party Central Committee member, Secretary of the Attapeu provincial Party Committee and the province chief, informed the Da Nang city delegation of the province’s socio-economic development. Accordingly, despite its high economic growth rate, local residents’ income is still low.

The Attapeu provincial chief appreciated the cooperation projects and programs as well as the support from Da Nang city in the 2013-2017 period.

Of which, Da Nang city has given development support worth nearly VND18.3 billion for the Lao province’s economic programs, education and training, the teaching of Vietnamese language, sports development, traffic, planning and investment attraction. The programs have brought good efficiency, contributing to boosting socio-economic development in Attapeu province.

At present, 2 companies from Da Nang city are investing in Attapeu province with a capital of nearly USD4 million.

Based on Attapeu province’s suggestions, Da Nang city decided on some cooperation programs with the province in the 2018-2022 period, focusing on training students and cadres, sending teachers to teach the Vietnamese language, exchanging experience between the two Departments working in education and training, as well as agriculture and rural development, and boosting social welfare work. The total support from Da Nang city for Attapeu province is VND12.7 billion.

Accordingly, Attapeu province will introduce some investment projects for enterprises coming from Da Nang city, firstly those in traffic, agriculture and mineral exploitation.

On the same day, the delegation attended the inauguration ceremony at the Muong May Primary School in Attapeu province. The construction, which was supported with over VND5.2 billion by Da Nang city, has 2 floors with 6 classrooms. On this occasion, the Da Nang city delegation presented the school with 2 sets of computers./.
