Vietnam-Mongolia Relations: New Chapter in Timeless Melody
	People-to-People Exchanges: Solid Foundation for Vietnam-Mongolia Friendship

The Mongolian delegation of retired diplomats includes experienced diplomats who have held ambassadorial positions in many countries, including those who have studied, worked, or visited Vietnam.

At the meeting, Ambassador Jigjee Sereejav said: Within the framework of the visit, the delegation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Retirees Club of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, which demonstrates their desire to strengthen Vietnam - Mongolia people-to-people cooperation based on the traditional friendship.

The members of the delegation shared memories about the country and people of Vietnam, and expressed deep impressions of Vietnam's rapid and comprehensive development in recent years.

Speaking at the meeting, President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, Phan Anh Son, expressed his pleasure at reconnecting with close friends of Vietnam. He emphasized that in 1955, amidst Vietnam’s recent signing of the Geneva Agreement and its temporary division, President Ho Chi Minh made the pivotal decision to officially visit Mongolia. This historic visit laid the foundation for the enduring friendship between the two nations, particularly between their people. The year 2025 marks the 70th anniversary of this milestone and the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the Mongolia-Vietnam Friendship Association.

President Phan Anh Son noted that, from April 29 to May 1, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations had proposed that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee invite B. Gantuya, Vice President of the Mongolia-Vietnam Friendship Association, to participate in the commemorative activities marking the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification in Ho Chi Minh City.

Gantuya is the granddaughter of the late Lieutenant General and Hero of Mongolian Labor, J. Jamian, who served as Chairman of the Mongolian Committee to Support Vietnam and later became the first Chairman and then Honorary Chairman of the Mongolia-Vietnam Friendship Association. He was also recognized as an Honorary Citizen of Ho Chi Minh City and had the honor of meeting President Ho Chi Minh seven times. This invitation reflects Vietnam’s deep respect and gratitude for the unwavering support and solidarity extended by international friends throughout its struggle for national liberation and subsequent development.

Through the delegation, President Phan Anh Son conveyed the sincere appreciation of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, as well as that of the Vietnamese people, to the Mongolian Committee to Support Vietnam and the Mongolia-Vietnam Friendship Association for their invaluable friendship and support over the years.

On this occasion, Phan Anh Son proposed several initiatives to further strengthen people-to-people cooperation between Vietnam and Mongolia.

First, the Vietnam - Mongolia Friendship Association and the Mongolia - Vietnam Friendship Association need to coordinate to organize online seminars and talks on the history of solidarity between the two peoples, especially during the Vietnam's resistance war for independence and the post-war development process.

Second, it is suggested that the Mongolian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Retirement Board promote its experience and closely coordinate with the Mongolia - Vietnam Friendship Association to act as a bridge for people-to-people exchange activities between the two countries.

Third, it is necessary to organize a delegation of Mongolian scholars, lecturers and students to visit Vietnam for academic exchanges, to enhance understanding and cooperation. The Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations is ready to act as a focal point to connect with domestic partners to facilitate these activities.

Fourth, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations is ready to coordinate with universities to conduct online lectures introducing the country, people, foreign policy and development orientation of Vietnam, and Vietnam - Mongolia relations. The Mongolian side can also send experts and lecturers to participate in similar programs to introduce Mongolia in Vietnam.

Ambassador Jigjee Sereejav highly appreciated the role and contributions of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam - Mongolia Friendship Association in promoting the friendship between the two peoples. He welcomed the proposals of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and expressed his wish to enhance people-to-people exchanges, encourage people of the two countries to contact and learn about each other through cultural and tourism activities, among others.
