“The APEC Park is a very good idea,” said Andi Dirgahayu Yudyachandra, a delegate from Indonesia. This kind of park was also built in Manila during the APEC year in the Philippines.

People come here and they can understand more about the culture of each economy, he said.

He said he is impressed the most with Indonesia’s sculpture. It’s the idea of the Indonesian leader to contribute a sculpture made of aluminum which shows the characteristics of Indonesia.

Echoing the Indonesian delegate, Konstantin V. Vnukov from Russia said it is a good idea to create the park in one of the most beautiful cities in Vietnam and to invite members of APEC to present something, some kind of culture and meaningful things to this park.

“When we received the invitation, we immediately reacted very positively and we had several ideas about the monument but one idea is the first man came to the outer space 60 years ago so it reflects one of the ideas of APEC agenda,” he said.

This is about technology because Iuri Gagarin he went on a spaceship with high technology. It happens 60 years ago but is still very meaningful for the mankind to create technology.

Meanwhile, Rimbink Pato Obe, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Papua New Guinea, host of APEC 2018, said the idea of APEC Park demonstrates the unity of the APEC economies in economy, trade and investment.

“Trees planted here reflect that we stand together and grow together for the prosperity of our people as we drive our agenda for development, for better quality of life and for better liberal trade,” he said.

The APEC Economic Leaders’ Week is taking place in Da Nang from November 6th-11th, drawing around 10,000 delegates from the 21 APEC member economies.
