Disaster risk management and climate change adaptation in Bac Lieu

Through the support in teaching by Truong Thien Huu, Lecturer from Red Cross of Can Tho City; the training course had the participation of representatives of commune leaders, Women's Union, Farmers' Union, Red Cross, Commune teams, Police, Commune union and Hamlet Heads of 2 communes of An Phuc and Long Dien Dong.
From August 13 to 15, the training course was organized to provide knowledge and skills for participants on the prevention of natural disasters risks and climate change in the area. Thereby, using some tools to identify and analyze risks caused by natural disasters, at the same time analyzing the seasonal calendar and building the impact and risks map for each hamlet.
Besides, the training course helped participants to develop a plan for natural disaster prevention, disaster risk reduction, and responsiveness in the future at hamlet level and integrate those into the general plan of communes and districts.
The activity was funded by ActionAid International in Vietnam./.
