Domestic airlines including Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air have announced the increases in a number of airfares and fees including fares for children since April 1st this year.

The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines said it would raise children's fares (from 2-12 years) from 75 per cent to 90 per cent of adult fares while fares for children under 2 years old remain unchanged at 10 per cent of adult fares.

Meanwhile, Vietjet Air has made no adjustment for children’s fares but the low cost carrier will increase the fees for a passenger name change from VND 352,000 (USD 15.4) to VND 495,000 (USD 21.78) per passenger for domestic flights and from VND 630,000 (USD 27.72) to VND 800,000 (USD 35.2) per passenger for international flights.

The fees for changing date was also increased from VND 352,000 to VND 374,000 (USD 16.4) per passenger per segment for domestic flights and from VND 670,000 (USD 29.48) to VND 800,000 per passenger for international flights.

Notably, Vietjet also increased their fees for seat selection from VND 30,000 (USD 1.32) to VND 50,000 (USD 2.2) for normal seats and from VND 40,000 (USD 1.76) to VND 90,000 (USD 3.96) for front seats and VND 90,000 to VND 150,000 (USD 6.6) for special seats.

A number of fees and charges including airport fees and fees for security services which apply to several domestic flights will also rise. This is the second adjustment of fees and service prices since the beginning of 2018./.
