Egypt Remains as Vietnam's Leading Trading Partner in North Africa

On Wednesday, Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc attended the celebration of the 71st National Day of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Egypt.
The event was organized in Hanoi by the Egyptian Embassy in Vietnam.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc, on behalf of the Government and people of Vietnam, congratulated the Government and people of Egypt, the Egyptian Embassy in Vietnam.
The Deputy Minister said that Vietnam is a close friend of the Egyptian people.
Vietnam always follows and is delighted with Egypt's multifaceted achievements over the years, especially in the implementation of the National Strategy "Egypt Vision 2030" towards sustainable development and prosperity.
Overcoming the difficulties of the world economy, Egypt still maintains its position as the second-largest economy in Africa. The “Suez Canal Economic Zone” is making an important contribution not only to the national economy but also to global trade.
After the success of COP 27 (November 2022), Egypt is taking the lead in implementing giant green development projects in renewable energy, green hydrogen production, and sustainable development.
The Deputy Minister believes that, under the wise leadership of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the Egyptian people will reap more achievements, and continue to contribute to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region, as well as in the world.

Regarding bilateral relations, Deputy Minister Ha Kim Ngoc affirmed that Vietnam and Egypt have a friendly relationship. Both nations aspire to freedom and independence, which is a symbol of resilience, and indomitable in the struggle for national liberation.
The Vietnam-Egypt relationship is built on the solid foundation of the common aspiration for independence and freedom.
The relationship has been nurtured by generations of leaders and people of the two countries over the past 60 years, and it continues to grow strongly in many fields.
The Deputy Minister also appreciated the achievements in bilateral cooperation between the two countries. The two sides exchanged high-level delegations, and regularly supported each other at regional and international forums, such as the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, ASEAN, and the African Union.
Egypt is currently Vietnam's leading trading partner in North Africa.
Cultural and educational exchange, and cooperation between two cultures with a long history brought the people of Vietnam and Egypt closer together.
Many Vietnamese students and diplomats, who have been trained in Arabic in Egypt, act as a bridge of friendship between the two countries.
Deputy Minister Ha Kim Ngoc said that in July 2023, Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam Tran Luu Quang will have an essential visit to Egypt. He believed that with the determination of the two sides, this visit on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries will be an important milestone.
It contributes to creating new momentum, promoting cooperation between Vietnam and Egypt in potential fields such as economy, trade, logistics, culture, and education, commensurate with the available potentials and wishes of the leaders, and people of the two countries.

Speaking at the ceremony, Amal Salama, Egyptian Ambassador to Hanoi, said that the diplomatic relations between Egypt and Vietnam were established in 1963, officially marking the beginning of the long-standing friendship between the two countries.
During six decades of diplomatic relations, Egypt and Vietnam work closely to achieve prosperity for the two peoples.
The friendly relationship between Egypt and Vietnam in recent years has seen unprecedented development.
President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi's historic visit to Vietnam in September 2017, and late President Tran Dai Quang's visit to Egypt in August 2018 promoted bilateral relations between the governments and peoples of the two countries.

Ambassador Amal Salama said that the foreign ministries of the two countries are working closely to increase the exchange of high-level visits, within the framework of the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic relations, and hold the 6th session of the Egypt-Vietnam Joint Committee.
The two sides are also trying to strengthen the legal framework for bilateral cooperation, by updating existing agreements and finalizing new ones.
The Ambassador believed that under the current leadership of the leaders of the two countries, Egypt and Vietnam will continue to cooperate for the development and prosperity of the two peoples.
