An exhibition on Vietnam’s sea and island cultural heritages is taking place in Tam Ky city, Quang Nam province from May 9th to 14th, as a highlight of the framework of the 6th Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2017.

The event aims to promote cultural values and the potential of island tourism. Meanwhile, the exhibition contributes to affirming Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos.

The event also provides an opportunity for participants to share experiences and seek solutions for the effective management and preservation of the nation’s sea and islands cultural heritage.

The exhibition is pided into two areas. The first area showcases a general overview on Vietnam’s sea and islands ranging from prehistoric times to now, through nearly 300 documents, ancient maps and artifacts asserting Vietnam’s sovereignty over Truong Sa (Spratly) and Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelagos.

The second area displays characteristic values of cultural heritages, island tours, a folk arts programme and products of 16 provinces and cities across the country.

The 6th Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2017 will open on June 9th, aiming to honour Vietnam’s cultural values and Quang Nam province’s cultural identities as well as promoting Vietnam’s image to international friends.

The festival provides an excellent chance for Quang Nam to accelerate cultural exchanges and share experiences in management and conservation of cultural heritages./.
