Female player Vu Thi Trang triumphs White Nights tour in Russia
(VNF) - Top Vietnamese female badminton player Vu Thi Trang gained an impressive victory over US rival Rong Schafer in the final game White Nights tour in Russia on July 5th with a double win 21-14.
Earlier, she trounced the tour’s No1 seeding player Linda Zetchiri in the semi-final match with 21-6, 21-13.
In the male event, Nguyen Tien Minh (currently world No 35) failed to top the tour even seeding 1st. He lost 16-21 and 12-21 to the host rival Vladimir Malkov (world No 51) in the final game.
By wining the tour, Vu Thi Trang pocketed a USD1,500 USD prize in cash, while Nguyen Tien Minh received USD1,200 for his second rank.
White Nights badminton tour is part of the International Challenge system of the Badminton Wolrd Federation (BWF) with the total USD15,000 prize in cash./.
