Festival brings Japan closer to Vietnamese people

“Feel Japan in Vietnam 2016”, a two-day festival in Ho Chi Minh City, brought Japan, dubbed the land of the rising sun, closer to Vietnamese people.

The July 16-17 festival attracted large crowds of youngsters to experience the unique culture of Japan, like Japanese traditional dances of Maiko (dancing child) and Geiko (arts child) and special performances of Ninja and Orian dancing groups from Edo Wonderland – a popular park in Tochigi prefecture.

The popular Japanese music-band 365, singer Chi Thien and Bao An, also performed their magic at the event.

Other activities included calligraphy and origami demonstrations as well as trial-fitting for traditional Japanese clothes. Dancers performed two different types of traditional Japanese dances – Soranbushi and Bonodori, which were dramatically different from any dances popular in Vietnam.

They also taught guests to speak some common phrases in Japanese and demonstrated the techniques of bowing and showed how Japanese men and women bow differently.

Festival brings Japan closer to Vietnamese people

The festival housed 50 food game, culture and food booths with made in Japan offerings like vegetable pancakes, noodles, skewered chicken, candy apples and chocolate-coated bananas.

The event, the second of its kind, was jointly held by the Kilala Communication Company Limited and Song Han Tourist Company./.
