At the headquarter of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien recently had a meeting and working session with the Finnish Ambassador to Vietnam, and Finnish businesses to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in the field of trade, industry and energy between the two countries.

At the meeting, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien appreciated the good bilateral cooperation between the two countries, along with the potential for great advantages in economic, and trade relations.

He also welcomed Finnish businesses to participate in this process, contributing to promoting two-way trade growth, and economic development of the two countries.

The Finnish Ambassador to Vietnam expressed his desire to support Finnish businesses in expanding investment cooperation activities in the Vietnamese market, especially energy.

On this occasion, the Finnish Ambassador to Vietnam expressed his desire to support Finnish businesses in expanding investment cooperation activities in the Vietnamese market in many fields, especially energy.

The Ambassador introduced Wärtsilä as Finland's leading enterprise in the field of energy transition, with factory solutions using ICE - flexible power technology that have been deployed in many places around the world.

President and CEO of Wärtsilä Group, Håkan Agnevall introduced in detail the ICE flexible power technology that the group owns.

He also reported to the Minister on the situation of cooperation with Electricity Generation Joint Stock Corporation 3 (EVN GENCO3). He expressed his desire to research, invest and deploy the ICE flexible power project in Ninh Binh province with Vietnamese partners.

During the reception and working session, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien appreciated the recent cooperation activities between Wärtsilä Group and EVN GENCO3 in project implementation in Vietnam.

The Minister said Vietnam is an ideal destination for foreign investors as it is among the 15 countries with the best environment to attract FDI.

Vietnam is always one of the 20 countries with the largest trade scale in the world, and the annual economic growth rate is always maintained at a high level.

The Minister shared the orientation for developing energy sources in Power Plan VIII to achieve Vietnam's carbon neutrality goal by 2050, along with the goal of industrialization and modernization by 2030, with a vision to 2045.

The Minister also shared an overview of the processes and procedures, so that foreign investors can invest in domestic energy projects.

The Minister requested Wärtsilä and EVN GENCO3 to carefully research and survey, to be able to build a feasible plan, ensuring socio-economic efficiency, and appropriate electricity prices.

Regarding broader cooperation activities between Finland and Vietnam, the Minister proposed that the Finnish Ambassador have specific activities to encourage Finnish businesses to cooperate with Vietnamese businesses.

This cooperation is based on business ideas, technology, and capital, to be able to implement important projects shortly, contributing to the cooperation and development of the two countries.

The Finnish Ambassador to Vietnam committed to continue bringing large Finnish businesses to Vietnam to explore investment cooperation opportunities in the future. This creates a premise for further deepening the diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and Finland which has gone through more than 50 years of establishment and development (1973 - 2024).
