Five Nights at Freddy’s: Core Collection available on Xbox One and PlayStation 5 in January
According to Gamasutra, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Core Collection rolls five exciting titles all into one bundle. Newcomers will meet a colorful cast of characters including Bonnie, Chica, Foxy and Freddy Fazbear himself. Survive the night by monitoring the suspicious activity of the haunted animatronics that come alive at night. The Core Collection arrives physically on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch January 12, 2021.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Core Collection comes with Five Nights at Freddy’s, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, Five Nights at Freddy’s 3, Five Nights at Freddy’s 4, and Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location. You can currently pick up all games digitally right now, but now they'll be available as a physical option instead, Wccftech reported.
Five Nights at Freddy's is where everything began, as players start a summer job at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. The premise is simple: watch the cameras, as the animatronic entertainment tends to come to life at night. You'll swap between cameras to make sure nothing fishy is going on, but be careful: there might be an enemy that slips through here and there, and that means it's game over.
The second game follows much of the same premise, though Freddy Fazbear's Pizza has a whole new set of animatronics to contend with as well as some additional features. It's still rife with plenty of terrifying encounters, though, and that's what really matters in the end -- that's why people end up playing these games to start with, and the second game is a double-up of what people enjoyed in the first place.
The third game, Five Nights at Freddy's 3, takes place 30 years after the original pizza joint closed down, as what once was a security job for a guard overnight turns into Fazbear's Fright: The Horror Attraction, which is just as dangerous as ever, especially since it has the intention to revive the terrifying legends that made it popular in the first place.
Five Nights at Freddy's 4 lets players defend themselves against the monsters themselves: Chica, Bonnie, Foxy, and Freddy himself. This time, however, you play as a child who has to protect themselves until 6am by checking the doors of their home and keeping the monsters away. Sounds simple, but it'll go just about as badly as you'd expect if you aren't diligent.
Finally, Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location brings things back full circle once more, as a technician is being hired for a new restaurant: Circus Baby's Pizza World. We all know what's going on there. It's more of the same creepy camera-watching and keeping the monsters at bay.
The Five Nights at Freddy's: Core Collection physical editions will be available from Maximum Games on January 12, 2021.
Core Collection contains the first, second, third and fourth title of the point-and-click survival-horror
According to the Gamer, Five Nights At Freddy’s has previously seen releases on all platforms - including iOS and Android - which is a good indicator that the Core Collection could obtain a clean sweep across the console map.
It has been debated on social media that the Core Collection will contain the first, second, third and fourth title of the point-and-click survival-horror, as well as its 2016 title Five Nights At Freddy’s: Sister Location or last year’s Five Nights At Freddy’s: Help Wanted. The latter title was initially released as a VR game, however a non-VR version was released on current-gen consoles last year, which could then secure a spot in the upcoming Core Collection.
A ratings classification is usually a fail-safe indication of a title’s imminent release, that is most likely a physical release. With this knowledge, fans of Freddy Fazbear and company have been rejoicing over a possible physical copy of the upcoming collection. The recent installment Help Wanted has an Australian classification also, implying that the Core Collection may house Sister’s Location instead, or perhaps one of the series’ spin-off titles, such as Ultimate Custom Night.
What started off as a low-key PC indie game in 2014 has since conquered the horror corner of video games. Securing seven titles in its main series, with four spin-offs and multiple novels, Five Nights At Freddy’s has become the game to test your wits (and your friends) and survive the night as a security guard. Creator Scott Cawthon also announced in August that The Fazbear Fanverse Initiative was in the works, that will allow various creators of Five Nights At Freddy’s fan games to collaborate, and hopefully see their games released on consoles.
Aside from the Core Collection, the series' next main release will be Security Breach for the PlayStation 5, revealed during the PlayStation 5 showcase last month.
