The national women’s football team is resolved to pass the qualifier round of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U19 Women’s Championship hosted by Vietnam this year.

Coach Mai Duc Chung shared the team’s spirit at a press conference in Hanoi on October 23.

The qualifiers of Group E is scheduled to take place at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Centre (VYF) in the capital city on October 24, 26, and 28 with teams from Jordan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam competing.

Host Vietnam will face Malaysia in the opening match on October 24, Singapore on October 26, and Jordan on October 28.

Chung said the Vietnamese team consists of young players from 16 to 18 years old, some of whom have participated in international competitions.

He said all teams in Group E are making progress and stated that the Vietnamese players will play with their best in order to advance to the next round.

Coach of the Malaysian team Jacob Joseph said it is the first time in ten years that Malaysia has its representatives at an AFC U19 Women’s Championship.

He noted his team has only two weeks preparing for the event and is ready to meet the host team.

Coach of the Singaporean team Melisa Ye Hui Ting praised facilities at the VYF. She underscored her team’s thorough preparation and efforts to achieve the best result.

Coach of the Jordan team Munir Hantash thanked the Vietnam Football Federation for its fastidious organisation of the championship. He said his team wants to earn a ticket to the next round.

The AFC U19 Women’s Championship qualifying round consists of 27 teams, including the hosts of the event’s final round, Thailand. They are pided into six groups and will play in a round-robin format in the group stage to decide winners and two best second-placed teams.

The top eight teams of the first qualifier round will progress to the second round, where the four top teams will then advance to the finals, together with Japan, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, China, and Thailand./.
