Foreign NGO Aid Mobilization Yields Positive Results in Quang Nam Province

At a working session with the People's Committee of Quang Nam province on October 30, Trinh Thi Mai Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), head of the interdisciplinary inspection team on the registration and management of activities of foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs), highly appreciated the province's creative ways of mobilizing and managing aid from foreign non-governmental organizations.
Phuong emphasized the important role of foreign NGOs in supporting socio-economic development and improving the lives of communities in Vietnam.
She also shared the main contents of the working group's discussions with the provincial leaders, focusing on reviewing and evaluating the implementation of Decree 58/2022/ND-CP of the Government on registration and management of activities of foreign NGOs. These contents aim to guide and improve operational efficiency while addressing local recommendations and proposals and accepting initiatives to report to competent authorities for consideration.

Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam People's Committee, Tran Anh Tuan, thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for supporting the locality to effectively access and attract aid from foreign NGOs.
With the characteristics of a province with 50% of its area in mountainous areas, he stressed, Quang Nam has made efforts to cooperate with foreign non-governmental organizations in many key areas such as poverty reduction, education, health, climate change response, and so on.
According to the report at the meeting, from September 2022 to September 2024, 77 foreign NGOs, humanitarian and charitable organizations, and foreign individuals have implemented many aid activities and sponsored new programs and projects in Quang Nam. Of these, 53 organizations have registered to operate and are implementing projects. The province has received 161 non-refundable aid packages with a total committed capital of more than VND 455 billion (USD 17.980), focusing on the fields of education, health, natural resources, and environment.
