Speaking at the scholarship ceremony, representative of The Asia Foundation in Vietnam Dinh Thi Kieu Nhung stated that since 2004, The Asia Foundation has built a sustainable and effective partnership with local organizations, including the Can Tho Learning Promotion Association, in implementing The Asia Foundation’s scholarship program for disadvantaged female students in Vietnam.
Thanks to this effective cooperation, more than 3,000 Vietnamese female students have had the opportunity to complete high school, opening the door to a brighter future. Specifically in Can Tho, the Foundation has supported approximately 400 female students at the lower and upper secondary levels.

“These efforts go beyond simply awarding scholarships; they are about creating the best possible learning environment for these girls, helping them grow both academically and personally,” she emphasized.
According to Dinh Thi Kieu Nhung, The Asia Foundation's scholarship program not only helps students cover essential educational expenses but also equips them with life and work skills crucial for their future after graduation. The program also creates opportunities for the students to connect and interact with their peers and with professionals in education and human development, offering them valuable exposure to the world beyond the classroom.

She further affirmed that in the coming years, The Asia Foundation will continue to work closely with local partners to support underprivileged female students in Vietnam, including in Can Tho. “We hope to inspire these students to reach further and to help those less fortunate, creating a ripple effect of change that goes beyond their own lives. This is the essence of real empowerment – when you rise, you lift others up with you,” she said.
At the ceremony, leaders of the Can Tho People’s Committee presented a Certificate of Merit from the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education to Dinh Thi Kieu Nhung, education expert and representative of The Asia Foundation in Vietnam, for her outstanding achievements in the 2024 movement to promote learning and talent and build a learning society.
