He also helped to promote economic and trade relations between the two countries.

Thanh expressed his hope that in any position, Raleigh will continue contributing to the development of the comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Argentina.

He said that his three-year tenure in Vietnam was a memorable and proud time, adding that he always remembers the affection and warmth of the Vietnamese people.

According to Vietnam Investment Review, Argentina was one of three Latin American countries, together with Cuba and Chile, to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam before 1975. The bilateral diplomatic ties were set up on October 25, 1973.

Argentina is now Vietnam’s third largest trade partner in Latin America, after Brazil and Mexico, with two-way trade reaching 3.95 billion USD in 2020, an increase of 4.3 percent from the previous year.

In 2021, Argentinian ambassador to Vietnam Luis Pablo María Beltramino expressed his hope that the bilateral relations would be upgraded to the strategic partnership from the current status of comprehensive partnership, which was set up 11 years ago.

The ambassador said he would do his best to contribute to upgrading the ties, especially in the context that the two countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic ties in October 2023, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
