Former Chilean President Inspires Vietnamese Female Diplomats and Students
During her visit to Vietnam, on April 3, former President of Chile Michelle Bachelet Jeria held a talk with female diplomats and Vietnamese students at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam about the role of female leaders in multilateral organizations as well as in foreign, political and social activities.
At the dialogue, former President Michelle Bachelet emphasized the importance of gender equality in all political and social activities. This is not only the task of women but requires the cooperation of both genders.
It is noted that a change in the concept of the roles of men and women is necessary, considering this as one of the important factors to enhance the role of women in the society at national and global scale. Inherent and inappropriate social concepts prevent many women from pursuing their dreams or promoting their full potential to contribute to society.

According to the former Chilean President, obstacles will always exist in life, with one of them for women being a skillful balance between life and work. This requires the arrangement, time allocation and setting priority in each stage. At the same time, she emphasized the need to build a network of female leaders and officials of organizations, agencies and countries to strengthen mutual support and assistance.
At the discussion and Q&A session, Michelle Bachelet and guests shared many experiences in their life of political and social activities, encouraging women regardless of age and position to study, work, pursue their dreams and help other women develop together.
Michelle Bachelet served as the President of Chile twice and is the first female President of Chile. She was the first Executive Director of UN Women and a former High Commissioner for Human Rights.
With a charming talking style, the former President shared with young Vietnamese about her journey and gave sincere answers on issues such as women's participation in politics, gender equality in diplomacy, etc.
