Dr. Mezard has nearly 30 years of research on Vietnamese traditional medicine

Dr. Mezard has approached the five elements theory since 1991. At that time, he was instructed by Doctor Truong Thin (1940-2012, the president of Ho Chi Minh city Oriental Medicine Association).

Over the past two decades, Mezard Marc has gained valuable knowledge about Vietnamese traditional medicine and has participated in treatment for patients at the Institute of Traditional Medicine.

As an expert at the French-Vietnamese Oriental Medicine Institute based in France, Dr. Mezard Marc has made many efforts to link the Institute and the Institute of Traditional Medicine.

Since 2001, Mezard Marc has regularly led many multinational trainees to Vietnam to learn Vietnamese traditional medicine, especially the five elements theory. Each year, 3-6 groups of about 10 trainees come to study and practise at the Institute of Traditional Medicine in 1-2 weeks/session.

Dr. Mezard said the five elements theory by late Dr. Truong Thin has many unique features, typcial of southern traditional medicine. Foreign trainees are all interested in this method and hope it will be spread to many countries around the world.

Dr. Truong Thi Ngoc Lan, Deputy Director of the Insitute of Traditional Medicine said the five elements theory considers human body as a tree.

When a part of the tree is dianogsed with damage, it will be treated with acupuncture. This method focuses on treating the imbalance of yin and yang, the five elements of each organ so that overall balance is achieved.

According to Dr. Truong Thi Ngoc Lan, the five elements theory is highly effective and has simple reasoning. This method is suitable for Western trainees to study and practice on patients.

In addition to her passion for traditional medicine, Dr. Marc Mezard spent a lot of time researching traditional Vietnamese culture. Mezard Marc is passionate about guiding foreign students to explore the landscapes and cuisine of the South./.
