The ancient town of central Vietnam has been listed as one of the best holiday destinations of 2019 by the French magazine Elle, together with Grand Canyon in the US, Tunisia, Greenland (Denmark), French Polynesia, Berlin (Germany), Cairo (Egypt), Dakar (Senegal) and Matera in Italy.

In an article listing 10 stunning holidays ideas for 2019 that will "inspire you to live the way you’d like to", Elle mentions Hoi An. According to Elle, Hoi An is arguably Vietnam’s most underrated and marvelous town, a melting pot of architecture, history and culture.

"From ornate Buddhist monasteries to the iconic Japanese Covered Bridge and from the bustling Riverside market to the tranquil old town, Hoi An has it all!" Elle wrote.

Located in Quang Nam Province and only 30 kilometers away from beach city Da Nang, Hoi An impresses tourists with a statuesque-ancient-town vibe.

In 1999, Hoi An ancient town was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Earlier, Hoi An has been named among the world’s 50 best places to travel in 2019, according to US magazine Travel + Leisure.

In nine months of 2018, Hoi An welcomed 4.5 million visitors, up 78.8% compared to the same period last year. In which, 3.4 million were foreign visitors, up 42.8% in comparison to the same period last year./.
