The Friendship Associations of Vietnam and Thailand agreed to develop a joint action plan

Coordinate with the Thailand - Vietnam Friendship Association to organize activities to strengthen connection and friendly relations between the two countries, especially promoting business exchanges and cooperation. This is one of the focuses of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association's work in the last months of 2023 and early 2024, was agreed upon at the Expanded Executive Committee meeting in Hanoi.

At the meeting, Nguyen Van Thanh, vice chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, chairman of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association emphasized, at the 12th Conference between the Executive Committee Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association and Thailand - Vietnam Friendship Association took place in Da Nang on September 11, leaders of the two associations agreed to build a joint report on upcoming activities to implementation coordination.

This meeting aims to summarize the activities of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association in recent times, and at the same time implement a number of activities in the coming time, through which a report will be sent to the Thailand - Vietnam Friendship Association to let the two sides select and coordinate implementation.

For the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association, from now until the end of 2023 and early 2024, activities will take place to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the strategic partnership, and personal friendship activities.

Along with that, the association is ready to coordinate and participate in joint activities of the two associations to strengthen the connection and friendly cooperation between the two sides, especially in promoting business cooperation between the two countries.

Regarding educational cooperation, the association will continue the program of sending students with difficult circumstances in some localities to study at Mechai Bamboo School in Thailand. From now until the end of the year, the association will coordinate with localities to select three students in Ha Nam, Long An, and Bac Lieu provinces to study at Mechai Bamboo School under the scholarship program sponsored by Retail Group.

In December this year, the central association will coordinate with the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of Thua Thien Hue province to organize a scientific conference themed "Strengthening cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand on green economic development and education and training" with the participation of the Thailand - Vietnam Friendship Association.

The association will also work with Hai Phong City to promote the establishment of the city's Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association.

According to information at the meeting, the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association will participate in the Kathina robe offering ceremony organized by the Thailand - Vietnam Friendship Association on November 21 in Ba Ria Vung Tau Province. Then in December 2023, leaders of the two friendship associations will attend the 2023 Thai Silk Fashion Exhibition held in Bangkok.

Discussing at the meeting, Executive Committee members suggested that the association continue to act as a bridge to promote cultural and spiritual exchanges; attract overseas Vietnamese people to participate in the association's work; and promote exchanges, and economic and trade cooperation.

Chairman Nguyen Van Thanh stressed that the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association will try harder to contribute to promoting the existing friendship and cooperation, paying more attention to the cooperation between potential businesses of the two countries, especially young businesses, and startups.

Vibrant activities in 2023

Reporting at the expanded Executive Committee meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Duy Hung, permanent vice chairman of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association, said that after the fifth congress taking place in December 2022, the association strengthen coordination and cooperation with the Thailand - Vietnam Friendship Association to promote people-to-people exchanges.

In particular, from September 10-12, in Da Nang, the second Vietnam People's Friendship Festival and the 12th conference of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association and the Thailand - Vietnam Friendship Association took place.

In March 2023, the association welcomed and worked with a delegation of the Thailand - Vietnam Friendship Association. During this visit, the delegation had working meetings with the National StartUp Association, Hanoi Young Business Association and Vietnam Digital Media Association. They exchanged information and explored cooperation opportunities in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, young businesses, and startups of the two countries.

In August 2023, the delegation of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association led by its Chairman Nguyen Van Thanh visited Thailand and attended the Thailand Business Forum - Vietnam from August 14-16. At the same time, connect relevant agencies of the two countries to promote cooperation in a number of fields such as education, digital technology, and business connection.

Local cooperation is one of the priorities of the two friendship associations. Since 2019, Thai Nguyen Province and Udon Thani Province of Thailand have agreed to upgrade their relationship, becoming sister provinces. Recently, the two associations coordinated with the leaders of Thai Nguyen province to promote the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the sister provinces of Thai Nguyen and Udon Thani. Thereby promoting cooperation between the two provinces, including the exchange of local products, promoting tourism exchanges for young businesses.

In educational cooperation, on August 23, FPT University signed a MOU with Khon Kaen University, Chulalongkorn University, and King Mongkut's University of Technology. According to the minutes, the parties agreed to cooperate in exchanging students, and lecturers, joint research, organizing training programs, seminars, and discussions; and continue to send Vietnamese students in difficult circumstances to study at Mechai Bamboo School.

The Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association also arranged for two students from Lam Dong province to study at the school with scholarships from the C.P Group.

In the field of health, in March 2023, the two associations discussed a project to sponsor medical equipment for a district hospital in Nghe An province. The two associations are working to organize volunteer ophthalmologist teams to examine and treat eye diseases for people in remote areas.
