The delegation of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association was led by its President Nguyen Dac Vinh, Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Committee for Culture and Education, on April 5 came to congratulate the Lao Embassy in Vietnam on the occasion of the Lao traditional festival Bunpimay.

President Vinh gave flowers and best wishes to Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh, officers of the Lao Embassy, and the ambassador's family on the traditional holiday.

Vinh also discussed with Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh the results of the meeting with the President of the Laos - Vietnam Friendship Association Boviengkham Vongdara on the occasion of the working visit to Laos of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue in December 2023.

The two sides agreed on the directions for cooperation between the two countries' friendship associations and the activities of each association in the coming time. At the same time, they agreed to coordinate closely in organizing bilateral activities, discussing the association's work, organizing cultural exchange activities, and people-to-people exchanges on the occasion of celebrating major holidays in the bilateral relationship.

At the end of April 2024, the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association is planning to visit Laos and attend the congress of the Laos - Vietnam Friendship Association. The two Associations are expected to coordinate to organize exchange activities and connect young businesses of the two countries.

Vinh affirmed that the Governments of Laos and Vietnam always create conditions for the two friendship associations to operate. He hopes that in the coming time, the association will continue to receive coordination and support from the ambassador and embassy officials and staff to promote friendly relations and tighten solidarity between the two people.

The diplomat said 2024 is a special year for Laos when her country undertakes ASEAN Chairmanship and launches Tourism Laos Year 2024. This is also an important year for Laos and Vietnam when the two countries implement agreements signed at the 46th session of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee For Bilateral Cooperation.

Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh highly appreciated the effective activities and practical cooperation of the Friendship Association of the two countries in recent times. At the same time, she affirmed that she and the Embassy's officials and staff will continue to coordinate closely with the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association, acting as a bridge to organize exchanges, cooperation, and sharing experiences, contributing to promote people-to-people exchanges and deepen the special friendship between the two countries.
