Groundbreaking Marks Start of Kien Giang's Friendship Association-Funded Brigde
The Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association of Kien Giang province on August 14 coordinated with the People's Committee of Vinh Hiep Ward, Rach Gia city and the Kien Giang Union of Friendship Organizations held the ground-breaking ceremony to build a bridge for people of Doi Oc, Vinh Hiep ward of Rach Gia city.
The bridge has a total construction cost of VND 360 million (USD 15.000), mobilized by the Kien Giang's Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association with three benefactors, including Do Van Tuc and Le Van Ut from Rach Gia city, along with Nguyen Van Don from Hon Dat. The bridge is 26m long, 3.5m wide, 2.8m high, with a design load of 5 tons. The bridge can be put into use after about 40 days of construction.
The bridge after completion not only serves the travel needs of the people but also creates favorable conditions for local socio-economic development. This is an activity in response to the series of events to welcome the 4th Congress of Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations, term 2023-2028.

The Kien Giang's Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association currently consisted of 70 members and three branches. During the last term, the association has achieved many important results, contributing to deepening the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
The association has coordinated with the Kien Giang Union of Friendship Organizations to organize the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan; joining the Friendship Union Standing Committee and member associations to actively campaign for gatherings of overseas Vietnamese and their relatives on the occasion of 2017, 2018, and 2019 Lunar New Year.
Through activities of peace, solidarity, friendship, and people-to-people cooperation, provincial Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association has contributed to deepening people-to-people diplomacy, enhancing mutual understanding between the people of the countries, and at the same time, opening up favorable opportunities to promote aid mobilization and sponsorship with high efficiency.
The Executive Board of the association, in collaboration with the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations, actively took advantage of the aid of the Japanese Consulate General and mobilized domestic and foreign benefactors such as the Japanese Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City to provide non-refundable aid to the people of Kien Giang in seven projects, totaling USD 629,995.
Moreover, 11 rural bridges have been built. Of which, eight new bridges are built anew and thee are expanded. The total amount of aid and sponsorship from both domestic and foreign sources is more than 16.6 billion VND (USD 691.700).
