(VNF) - A wide range of activities have been held in localities across the nation to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of Vietnam's National Day (September 2nd, 1945 -2017).

The Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in the Dong Mo tourism area of Son Tay town, Hanoi, will host a variety of activities throughout this September.

The programme is expected to feature around 300 artists, actors and students of 12 ethnic groups from 11 localities across the country.

A typical rural market at Dong Van karst plateau will be recreated at the event, introducing visitors to indigenous specialties, folk games and dances of the ethnic minorities groups in the northern province of Ha Giang.

A total of 60 photos depicting the life, natural landscapes and people of Ha Giang will be displayed at the event.

Notably, a traditional boat race from Phu Tho province will be featured for the first time at the village as part of the programme. The boat race aims to honour the country’s sportsmanship, and show their gratitude to their national ancestors.

Long-standing cultural practices of the ancestral land of Phu Tho will also be introduced to visitors at the village through a display of 100 pictures.

The organising board will also present one of the largest festivals of the Dao ethnic group in Ba Vi district, Hanoi, which is observed annually on the fifteenth day of the seventh lunar month. The ritual aims to worship the departed and pay tribute to ancestors.

Documentary films will also screened for visitors, providing them with vivid historical documents on the country’s history, thus nurturing patriotism and national pride among them.

Moc Chau district’s ethnic culture festival will take place from August 31st to September 2nd, featuring many meaningful traditional activities such as art programmes ; ‘Searching tour guide Moc Chau’ contest; Mong ethnic’s Tha Kenh dance contest; community cultural activities; cuisine competitions; ethnic sports activities, folk games. Especially, this year’s festival will organise the Vietnam-Laos trade and tourism fair with the participation of many businesses from northern Lao provinces.

The festival is expected to offer visitors an opportunity to visit historical sites such as Doi (Bat) Cave, Pha Luong peak and Dai Yem waterfall.

Meanwhile, a wide range of entertainment activities will also be organised in Ho Chi Minh City during the National Day holidays from September 2nd-4th.

During the holidays, the Dam Sen Cultural Park in District 11 will offer numerous activities themed the “Autumn Festival”. A kite that is 50 metres long and 30 metres wide and carries about 4,000 wishes written by visitors to the park in the summer, along with two other giant kites, will help fly 70 smaller kites.

Visitors can also enjoy unique traditional and modern arts and take part in street music performances. They can benefit from 50 per cent discount tickets when wearing Vietnamese flag-themed T-shirts.

At the Ho Chi Minh Monument Park and on Nguyen Hue walking street in District 1, a free musical programme will be held by the HCM City Student Culture Centre on August 30th evening. A number of students will perform pieces of traditional and modern music along with school fashion designs.

Also at the Ho Chi Minh Monument Park, the municipal Department of Culture and Sports is going to organise an art programme marking the 72nd anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.

Hundreds of famous singers and actors will participate in special singing and dancing performances to re-enact the country’s struggle for national freedom and impendence.

While many plays will be performed at theatres across HCM City, local cinemas will also introduce new films and promotion programmes during the holidays./.
