Hanoi named among TripAdvisor’s Top destinations in 2016

The travel and booking site TripAdvisor has announced its Top 10 destinations for 2016, based on millions of user reviews on the site.

Compared to 2015, Hanoi was still listed in the Top 10, but dropped four spots to eighth place.

According to TripAdvisor, Hanoi brings the graceful beauty of old streets which are preserved with architectural projects and statuaries from the colonial time. Although the name Thang Long was replaced, the city maintains its origins with Ho Chi Minh Museum, Hoa Lo prison, parks and streets overshadowed with green trees, and more than 600 pagodas.

London jumped five spots to become the world's top destination of the website. In 2016, another reason to visit London is the celebration of the 400th anniversary of the great poet William Shakespeare's death.

Apart from Vietnam, two other Southeast Asian spots gaining TripAdvisor’s renown were Ubud, in Bali (Indonesia), and Siem Riep (Cambodia).

The remaining spots in the website’s Top 10 are New York (the US), Rome (Italy), Prague (Czech Republic), Paris (France), Marrakech (Morocco) and Istanbul (Turkey)./.
