Statistics from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) reveal that 392,000 Indian tourists visited Vietnam in 2023, more than tripling the figure from 2019.

Rajeev Kale, representative from Thomas Cook India, noted that the 500% increase in Indian tourists traveling to Vietnam may be attributed to improved flight connectivity, seamless travel with e-visas, and the impact of social media.

“Compared to other destinations in Southeast Asia, Vietnam offers highly valuable packages at very attractive prices,” he highlighted. “Vietnam appeals to a wide range of tourist groups, including families with multiple generations and senior members, couples, and groups of friends.”

He added, “Recently, direct flights from Ahmedabad to Da Nang were launched to meet growing demand from this region. By 2025, we anticipate further growth in travel demand as the number of flights from Ahmedabad continues to increase.”

Since 2019, VietJet Air has been continuously expanding its routes and direct connections to meet the rising demand from Indian travelers. The airline currently operates 68 weekly flights between the two countries, linking major Indian cities such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Kochi with key Vietnamese destinations like Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City.

Raj Rishi Singh, Chief Marketing and Business Officer at MakeMyTrip, noted a 17% increase in searches related to Vietnam over the past year. According to him, Vietnam's affordability, along with relaxed visa regulations and the increasing number of direct flights from India, are driving this growth in Indian tourism to Vietnam.

SD Nandakumar, President of SOTC Travel, emphasized that Vietnam offers Indian tourists a wealth of experiences—from culture, history, and cuisine to stunning landscapes and diverse shopping options.

“We look forward to collaborating with VNAT to sustain and boost demand through our extensive network across India,” he stated. “Our goal is also to introduce Indian travelers to less-explored destinations such as the Mekong Delta, Phu Quoc, Hoi An, Sapa, and Con Dao, catering to the discerning Indian traveler.”
