The book was translated from the English edition, copyrighted by The Gioi (World) Publishing House, as a result of over six months of dedicated efforts. The translation was supported by the Steering Committee for External Information Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and coordinated by the Vietnamese Embassy to Greece. On the Greek side, the project saw active participation from Velissarios Kossivakis, a member of the Greek Communist Party, along with the New Star translation group.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Greece, Pham Thi Thu Huong, noted that while several books about President Ho Chi Minh have previously been translated into Greek, this edition stands as the most complete and systematic to date. The book provides a comprehensive account of President Ho Chi Minh’s biography, revolutionary career, and ideology—from his childhood and quest to save the nation, to the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam, his leadership in the revolution, and the resistance wars against France and the US. It also covers his contributions to building socialism in the North, the struggle for the liberation of the south, and the eventual unification of the country.

The Ambassador emphasized that the book serves as a valuable resource, addressing the growing interest of Greek readers in gaining a deeper understanding of President Ho Chi Minh, an exceptional leader of the Vietnamese people. It also acts as an important bridge, fostering mutual understanding and strengthening the friendship between Vietnam and Greece.
Velissarios Kossivakis, who contributed to the book’s translation, has visited Vietnam numerous times and holds deep respect for President Ho Chi Minh. With extensive experience in translating and publishing works by Cuban leaders into Greek, he has long aspired to bring President Ho Chi Minh’s writings to Greek audiences, enabling more people in Greece to gain a deeper understanding of the great Vietnamese leader.

Speaking at the press conference, Kossivakis expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese Embassy to Greece and The Gioi (World) Publishing House for helping him fulfill this aspiration. He is currently collaborating with the New Star group to translate Selected Writings of President Ho Chi Minh from 1920-1969 (based on the English edition provided by the Publishing House). His goal is to complete the translation in time for the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day on September 2, 2025.
