As planned, in the 2016-2020 period, Ho Chi Minh city will carry out 89 medical projects with a total investment capital of over VND21.6 trillion.

According to the city Department of Health, the projects include training medical staff, building hospitals at the district level, and upgrading existing hospitals providing hi-tech and extensive treatment.

There are currently 10 general hospitals, 20 specialised hospitals and one centre treating leprosy at the city level. In addition, the city has 23 district hospitals and 318 communal medical stations, not including private medical foundations.

Recently, the city has inaugurated the 1,000 sick-bed paediatrics hospital in Binh Chanh district which is expected to be put into operation by September. Meanwhile, many other hospitals are under construction./.
