Hon Chuoi Island residents to be evacuated ahead of Storm Pabuk
Chairman of Ca Mau Province Nguyen Tien Hai on January 2 has ordered local authorities to call fishing boats into shelters and evacuate people on Hoan Chuoi Island as Storm Pabuk approaches.

The residents must be evacuated to the nearest shelters and the fish farms will be secured to minimise damage. Fishermen on boats docked at Hon Chuoi and Hon Khoai islands must also be sheltered or evacuated.
As of 6 am on January 2, there were over 1,086 active fishing boats with 7,349 fishermen in Ca Mau. About 2,496 boats were docked in port and 53 rescue boats have been prepared and gathered at estuaries.
According to the Vietnam National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, as of 4 am on January 2, the storm was 460km away from the southern region and will move closer to Vietnam in the next 24 hours and will be 200km away from Ca Mau, with winds of 62-88 km/h.
